Step 5: Enter the start and stop times you noted in step 1 into the "Start" and "Stop" fields. Step 4: Select the Options tab at the top of the window. Step 3: Once the download completes (if applicable), right-click or control-click the song you want and select Song Info (Windows) or Get Info (Mac) from the resulting drop-down list. Step 2: If a cloud icon appears beside your chosen song, right-click (or control-click) and choose Download from the context menu to download it from the cloud to your Mac or PC. IPhone ringtones play continuously in 30-second (or less) loops, so after choosing your song, note the start and stop times for the portion you want, up to a maximum of 30 seconds. Step 1: Launch Music or iTunes and choose a song from your collection. This means that the steps for creating a ringtone are essentially the same whether the app you're using is named "iTunes" or "Music," although some of the menu options differ slightly between the Windows and Mac apps. Apple simply trimmed out all the non-music features and put those into separate apps. With the 2019 release of macOS Catalina, Apple replaced iTunes with a new app simply called "Music." Don't let the new name fool you, though the macOS Music app is basically still iTunes under the hood. If you're using Windows or an older version of macOS, then iTunes will be the go-to app for this. You won't be able to create ringtones from Apple Music tracks since those are copy-protected.įurther, if you have tracks in your library that were purchased from the iTunes Store prior to 2009, these may also be copy-protected unless you updated them to the new "iTunes Plus" format. You can actually create a ringtone from just about any song in your iTunes or Music library - as long as you own the song, that is. Thankfully, buying a ringtone isn't your only option. How to create a ringtone using your Mac or PC Once purchased and downloaded, the new ringtone or alert tone will appear in the appropriate section alongside the built-in tones, which can be found in the Settings app under Sounds & Haptics. Step 5: From the details screen, select the name of the tone to listen to a preview or tap the price button to purchase the ringtone. Step 4: Select a tone from the list or use the Genres, Featured, or Charts buttons to browse for more tones. “They are for me the embodiment of what homecoming was meant to be.”įeit is searching for their own homecoming. “They bring me into that space between here and there, who I am and who I might be, what was and what’s birthing, what hurts and what can be tended to,” Jeronimo said. She joined Kol Hai in 2016 and says Feit’s knowledge of spiritual practices, deep wisdom and neurodivergence have combined to make their sessions “transformative.” One of their counseling clients, Ali Jeronimo, has been meeting with Feit for years. She works as an occupational therapist in the Poughkeepsie school district, while Feit does more of the parenting and cooking for their three daughters - ages 5, 9 and 11 - writes and performs music, leads meditation retreats and does spiritual counseling, promising spiritual intimacy. “I feel like I live in a kaleidoscope that’s constantly turning,” she said. “I actually think the notion of a gender binary is a gross oversimplification and in fact, kind of a desecration of the diversity and beauty of creation of which we’re a part,” Feit said.Įmily admits to feeling destabilized by the change. They changed their middle name to Meira, the female form of Meyer, their two grandfathers’ names, and have begun to wear both men’s and women’s clothing. Gone are Feit’s income, Emily’s role in the community as the rabbi’s wife, Friday night candlelighting and other Jewish family rituals.įeit describes themself as genderqueer or gender-fluid. But much of the life the couple built together over the past 15 years has splintered. Emily says she’s supportive and that Feit has become “sweeter” since coming into their full self. Since leaving Kol Hai, Feit, at 45, is “unmasking,” discovering and sharing their new understanding of themself with friends and family. “There was a huge investment from Emily, from the board, from all the participants who couldn’t understand, ‘Where did this go? ’ ” Feit said. (Kol Hai means “all life” in Hebrew.) A year ago, at the beginning of Pride month, they resigned, writing to the congregation, “I learned you cannot water a dead flower back to life.”įeit says that while many in the Kol Hai community felt betrayed when they stepped away, some were “incredibly supportive and told me that I was being courageous.”īut there were losses, too. Seeing colors and hearing sound more intensely than “neurotypicals” helped Feit become a talented graphic artist and composer, they believe.Įventually, Feit realized they could not return to the leadership of Kol Hai, which they founded in 2014. They dropped out and became immersed in drugs and Kurt Cobain’s music.īut they see some gifts with autism, as well. Feit thinks they probably inherited autism from their father and may have been overstimulated attending a large high school in Manhattan. While the causes of autism are varied and not fully understood, genetics and biology are important factors, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Feit’s wife Emily said she had often done “social cleanup” for Feit, apologizing when they were unintentionally abrupt or cold to a Kol Hai congregant. “Understanding myself as autistic answers 10,000 questions about my personal history while it also opens up countless questions.”Īutism helped explain why Feit often collapsed in exhaustion and retreated after holiday services, a phenomenon known as autistic meltdown. “It was explosive, like coming out of multiplying doored closet,” they said. As Feit researched the condition, the pieces of a lifelong puzzle began to coalesce. The journey began after their 10-year-old daughter Ivy was diagnosed with autism. They revealed that their pronoun was “they” to honor the value of diversity and that they were exploring whether they might be on the autism spectrum. Wearing a blue denim dress with hiking boots, the welcoming rabbi was the magnet that attracted some 200 Jews, most from Ulster County but some from as far as Westchester, to observe the Day of Atonement together.īut a few months later, Shir Feit took an indefinite leave of absence. Rabbi Feit composed many of the liturgical songs Kol Hai sang that day and led the singing with a clear baritone, a guitar and a friendly gap-toothed smile. They are very trainable and can learn a variety of tricks. Cockatoos are known for their high intelligence, and umbrella cockatoos are no exception. They also climb and do gymnastics. If you’re looking for a sociable, loving, and comical pet bird, then an umbrella cockatoo may be the right choice for you! These beautiful white parrots are native to Indonesia and the Solomon Islands, and have been popular pets for centuries. They are able to use a branch for scratching their backs. White cockatoos are very smart and inquisitive birds. To bathe, white cockatoos fly through wet leaves in the treetops or hang upside-down during the rain.Preening distributes this dust throughout their plumage, providing important waterproofing to cope with a tropical, wet climate. These are powder-down birds, whose feathers produce dust that can sometimes be quite heavy. When birds use the feathers on their face to cover their beaks, they convey a welcoming, non-aggressive message. As with all birds, cockatoos use their body language for communication. The word "cockatoo" originates from the Malay word for these birds, "kakaktua," meaning "older sister”.The lowering of a crest may indicate friendliness, calmness, and general approachability. If approaching a cockatoo, the raised crest may warn not to touch them - at the risk of being bitten. When raised, it can indicate a number of intentions: displaying for its mate calling its flock members defending its flock or territory or expressing curiosity, excitement, fear surprise, or frustration. The major purpose of a cockatoo's crest is communication.Signs of illness in a cockatoo can include runny eyes, sluggish behaviour, unusually coloured droppings (likely indicating blood in the digestive tract), sleeping more than normally, droopy wings, tail bobbing when sleeping (indicating difficulty in breathing), sleeping on the bottom of the cage (birds naturally want to be high on a perch), sudden change in or unusual behaviour, feather plucking, biting themselves, sudden weight loss or gain, and a drop in appetite, among other symptoms. Qualified avian veterinary care is required, both for prevention of disease, and for care in the event of a major illness or trauma. An often cited rule of thumb among avian enthusiasts and veterinarians is: "If the bird looks sick, it is likely to be very, very sick – possibly near death". In the wild, it has been observed that a flock will force out an unhealthy bird for fear of attracting predators. A sick bird naturally will try to hide its health issues. Assorted fresh fruits and vegetables and properly created pellets available at many good pet stores are more appropriate. Seeds provide little nutrition (they are mostly fat) and is considered similar to a person living on junk food. Health issues with captive birds are common since many people do not provide a proper diet for cockatoos. Pet white cockatoos may raise their crests upon training, or when something catches their interest such as a new toy or person. Like other cockatoos, white cockatoos can learn a large number of words, and are able to construct simple sentences with the words they learn. This species is known for producing large quantities of feather dust, which may be problematic for humans with respiratory problems or allergies. In a cage, with no escape path, they can be subjected to stress which often leads to feather picking (as with many pet birds). They have a "fight or flight" flock mentality, and generally prefer to fly away from danger. They have very strong beaks which can be easily crack walnuts or maim fingers. They can become very bonded (or dependent) on their human companion and this combined with their long life and often misunderstood behaviours can lead to issues. They are often used in live animal acts in zoos and amusement parks because they are naturally acrobatic and easily trained, because of their highly social nature and high level of intelligence.Ĭockatoos present several difficulties for their owners. Although capable of imitating basic human speech, they are not considered the most able speakers among parrots. Anyone not used to cockatoo behavior may find this cuddling behavior odd, as most parrots do not cuddle like the umbrella cockatoo. They are often called "velcro birds" because they like to cuddle with people, especially their owners, or primary care-taker. White cockatoos are kept as pets because they can be very affectionate, bond closely with people and are valued for their beauty. Tokyo Game Show 2022 has come and gone, and with its departure comes a number of interesting stats. While 2019 may’ve felt like we were lost in a Fantasy of Fire signs, pursuing our passions at all costs without regard for the material expense or long-term consequences, 2020 gives us a much-needed lens of practicality in terms of how to pursue these passions of ours while maintaining expectations that are both clearer and more realistic. We’re intuitive yet practical, which is a good combination for a financial gamble, as our perception of what constitutes a safe bet undergoes radical transformation in more than one area of life. We could leverage our success now, taking a calculated financial risk that’ll be profitable in a long-term. Jupiter-Uranus in supportive aspect to one another signals a speedy shift in our belief systems, pushing us to explore new paths to success. Jupiter-Uranus combinations open us up to less traditional means of getting where we want to go, opening our minds to new people and unexpected events that encourage the mobilization of extraordinary endeavors. In fact, Jupiter trine Uranus “is one of the most fortunate aspects from a worldly point of view,” inspiring us to make changes eagerly rather than out of fear or insecurity. This means that Jupiter’s trine to Uranus in Taurus has an unusually long effect, its energy hanging in the air, so to speak, for all of December 2019 through January 2020.Īnd this is a good thing. While this is the only exact hit of this transit, its effect is made stronger by Uranus’ slowdown in the sign of Taurus, as it’s set to turn stationary direct on January 10, 2020-the same day as the Lunar Eclipse in Cancer-at 2★6’ of Taurus. On December 15, 2019, Jupiter 2★6’ Capricorn forms a perfect trine aspect to Uranus 2★6’ of Taurus. With both Uranus and Jupiter moving from Fire signs Aries and Sagittarius into Earth signs Taurus and Capricorn, respectively, the tone has shifted to more material concerns and methods for making our lives run smoothly in a practical sense. While Uranus previously occupied the sign of Aries (Fire) for many years, it made its final steps into Taurus (Earth) in May 2019, with Jupiter moving from its home sign of Sagittarius (Fire) into Capricorn (Earth) on December 2, 2019. With Jupiter having recently entered the sign of Capricorn, where it will stay until December 19, 2020, in addition to Uranus’ final move into Taurus, where it’ll be until 2026, the energy has become (and will continue to become) much “earthier” or materialistic in terms of the Change we want to make. To anyone not familiar with the series that may seem complete, but The Second Encounter is not Serious Sam 2, which isn’t in this collection. It is weird though that this collection includes Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter and its Legend of the Beast DLC, as well as Serious Sam 3: BFE and its Jewel of the Nile DLC. Serious Sam is just a fun series of shooters that I can’t recommend enough. It’s also hard not to laugh when the Beheaded Kamikazes start running at me screaming. Sam is basically a less annoying Duke Nukem, who reacts more to the situation and is not focusing on spouting off one-liners he stole from 80’s movies. Dialog from Sam however can be comedic at times, and I like that a lot. Serious Sam follows Sam Stone as he saves the planet from alien invaders. Plot and writing aren’tgoing to blow anyone away. With a modern lens these aspects may just seem normal, but at the time Serious Sam was doing things his contemporaries could not. What is important to note is that at the time, the things Serious Sam could on low end PCs was impressive, because it had large open areas with long draw distances and lots of enemies. Anyone not familiar with Serious Sam but with say Duke Nukem or Doom will feel right at home, because Serious Sam is not about reinventing the genre in major ways. Exploration is rewarded with secret areas filled with ammo, armor, and other weapons. Everything is polygonal because the series only started in 2001, but the gameplay is all about managing large crowds of enemies using a variety of weapons while moving around constantly to dodge enemy attacks. The Serious Sam games are very much old school first person shooters. I know I have, and while I am familiar with Serious Sam, I still feel like it is a somewhat ignored series, and I hope that people see this collection and pick it up. With the recent resurgence of Doom in 2016 I feel like people have been looking for more fast paced first person shooters with hints of exploration. THIS GAME IS ALL ABOUT SHOOTING GUNS!
